Around 150 people, majority Overseas Indians, attended the INDIA EMPIRE NRI AWARDS Night on January 10, 2010 at the Ramada Plaza hotel in New Delhi. In all, 16 eminent Overseas Indians (OIs) from 11 countries—USA, UK, South Africa, Malaysia, New Zealand, Australia, Mauritius, Trinidad and Tobago, Canada, ReUnion Islands, UAE—received Awards.
The magazine has decided to institutionalize these awards, that is hold them every year on January 10. Some of the Awards functions will be held outside India as well.
