Special Observations of H.E. Ms Diana Mickeviciene, Ambassador of Lithuania to India, on India-Lithuania relations

“As Lithuania and India continue to deepen their partnership, several sectors stand out as particularly promising for future cooperation. Lithuania’s strengths in laser and photonics technologies, life sciences, and advanced manufacturing align well with India’s growing demand for high-tech solutions.

Digital innovation is another key area. Lithuania is recognised for its expertise in fintech, cybersecurity, and GovTech, while India’s scale and dynamic digital ecosystem create strong opportunities for collaboration, including in AI and data-driven public services. Recent engagements, such as Lithuania’s participation in the AI Impact Summit in India, further highlight this shared focus.

Our partnership is increasingly technology-driven. Lithuanian companies active in India, such as Teltonika and Neurotechnology, are engaged across various high-tech sectors. At the same time, Lithuania also offers high-quality food and beverage products, particularly in the premium and gourmet segments, and we look forward to further developing this area. I am very happy that Lithuanian chocolates by Pergale have recently become available to the Indian people.

Bilateral economic ties continue to show resilience, with trade volumes reaching nearly €280 million in goods and €43 million in services in 2025, although this remains below the full potential of our cooperation. Looking ahead, the EU–India Free Trade Agreement is expected to unlock significant new opportunities, particularly in technology, engineering, and food industries.”
