2nd INDIA EMPIRE NRI AWARDS NIGHT  
For the second year running, on January 10, the INDIA EMPIRE Magazine held the 2nd Awards Night in recognition of excellence, purpose and achievement in the overseas Indian community. The Awards were bestowed upon distinguished overseas Indians from different walks (see citations). This year Union Minister Salman Khurshid who was promoted to cabinet rank soon after the award ceremony in the recent reshuffle, did the honours. The awards take into account excellence and merit in different fields, and recognize those overseas Indians who through their determination and hard work have made a difference to the lives of people in the countries of their domicile. The event, like the one in January 2010, was held at Hotel Ramada Plaza in New Delhi. As part of the magazine’s policy to look more at NRI youth, this time over 35 members of the Know India Programme were invited. They came from countries across the world.
