NRI INITIATIVE ON NON-VIOLENCE

ART AND PEACE

On September 30, the Mahatma Gandhi International Foundation recognized first prize winners at its annual Youth Contest on the theme of Non-Violence. The event was held as part of the Journees de la Culture at the Montreal Contemporary Art Gallery. The winning entries will also be exhibited until October 30 at the Ahuntsic Library in Montreal. Quebec’s Minister of Immigration and Cultural Communities, Ms Kathleen Weil, was present on the occasion. The MGF advocates peace and non-violence among youth in the age-group of 14 to 20 from across the world. Seen in the picture below is Serena Xiao, the first prize winner, for her entry “Reaching for Peace.” She receives her prize from Ms Weil.
