Trinidad and Tobago
Chinese philosopher Lao Tzu said that the journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. Trinidad and Tobago undertook that journey forty four years ago upon gaining independence. It has travelled many thousand miles since, and is today one of the Caribbean region's most colourful, vibrant and progressive nations. It has many reasons to be proud. It has many reasons to smile. As a nation Trinidad and Tobago has absorbed much of the culture of different countries, it is a shining symbol of diversity in unity. At the same time there is tremendous unity in diversity. This is a tribute to this wonderful nation on its 44th Independence Day.
