Foods that help conserve sookra
We had mentioned in our previous article that semen excretion or wastage takes place during sexual act, passionate attachment, and physical pressure. Besides the Yogic kriyas which definitely have direct and indirect effect in conserving sookra in the body, increased consumption of aphrodisiacs—foods (which help in building and conserving the semen or the Sookra) is beneficial in conserving sookra.
Aphrodisiacs as per Ayurveda are basically foods which are sweet, sumptuous, jivana (promoters of longevity), nourishing and heavy. In the above category it is safe to use cow ghee, honey, milk, juices of sweet fruits, soups. Regular use of these foods in one's diet does the job of aphrodisiacs.
Aphrodisiacs increase the body’s disease fighting capacity and are veerya and sookra vardhaka, not only do they bring a glow on the user but also increase his knowledge of the sciences of the spirit. It is said that having aphrodisiacs and being celibate along with the yogic practices raises a brute to a state of man and a man to divinity.
Again alongwith increasing the intake of foods that act as aphrodisiacs it is very important to avoid alcohol, cigarettes, lime juice, amchoor, chillies, and other drying up foods which tend to dry up or reduce the sookra in the body. Breads and salads are also foods which dry up the system.

One Ayurvedic concoction which is extremely effective in increasing the sookra in the body is:
One tula (4.5 kg approx) each of sugar and cow ghee, one prastha (640 gm approx) of vidari and pippalli (piper longum) powder and half adhaka (1.2 kg approx) each of tugaksiri (misri) and freshly collected honey are to be mixed together and preserved in an earthen jar, smear cow ghee on this. As per your power of digestion have a little of this first thing in the morning.
All the rasayans and tonics and herbal concoctions which are being prescribed in this series are to be strictly taken keeping in mind the cautions given. It is always recommended to get your constitution evaluated first by an ayurvedic certified practitioner.
