NRIs and PIOs believe in keeping in touch with their cultures and their homeland through events. INDIA EMPIRE being the only magazine focused on the diaspora that is published from India has decided to step up its coverage of such events worldwide. While we have been covering such events in the past, this time we have chosen to put two events in the form of photo essays on our cover. It is a measure of the seriousness with which we intend to cover the diaspora. The two events have been held in Chicago and London and we interacted extensively with the organizers of both.

We will be covering more such events in the coming months. One of the biggest events by an NRI we will be covering will be in the month of November 2006 to be held at New York. It will be a musical event that will be broadcast to 50 countries, have a potential television audience of 1 billion, and will feature some of the biggest and best names in the world of music from across the globe. We will also be associated in media partnering the event.

After a gap of 20 years, the prestigious Asian Development Bank will be holding an event in India. It is the bank’s 39th annual meeting of its Board of Governors at Hyderabad in May. The event chairman is Union Finance Minister P. Chidambaram. We have brought out a curtain-raiser section on the event. At the same time in our business and diaspora segments we continue to write on various banks and their schemes on NRIs.

The rest of the package is also strong; we have a segment on investment, one on film-maker Bann Roy, a story on prime ministerial and presidential trips by veteran journalist Nitish Chakravarty and several columns.

All through we have the diaspora’s interests in mind.
