At Antwerp, diamonds are forever. But the class that is now dominating the world of diamond is new, Indian diamantaires are sparkling like never before. In the month of July, one of Belgium's highest civilian honours went to Dilip Mehta, the CEO of Rosy Blue, who was bestowed the title of Baron by the Belgian monarchy. In May, five out the 12 seats at the Diamond High Council (HRD) went to Indians. At INDIA EMPIRE, these achievements sparked off a quest to find out more on the diamond community. In our cover story this issue we have a few diamond personalities from Antwerp, including an interview with Mehta.

From New Zealand, consulting editor Rakesh K. Simha has written on the Indian community and the various issues that confront it in this southern nation. By Simha's accounts, it has not been easy being an Indian in NZ for the better part of the last century; prospects for Indians, though, are now looking up.

We have introduced a section on young Indians across the world, even as we keep expanding on our NRI and PIO section. In the new section we have an interview with Prashant Kumar, an upcoming star settled in the United States but with dreams of making it to Bollywood soon. The top brass of GOPIO has been profiled, these are men who are uniting people of Indian origin worldwide and making them a force to reckon with. Our business section also looks brighter and bigger.

We are into 2007, technically, therefore, we are into our 4th year of publication, having published our first issue in October 2004. We wish you a very prosperous and successful New Year, and hope that you'll give us many more opportunities to talk about you through our pages.

Best wishes on behalf of TEAM INDIA EMPIRE
