This is commemorated by decorating the streets with beautiful Vesak lanterns, giant Vesak pandals, and ‘’ dansal ‘’ by various organizations and individuals, who provide food and drink for free for devotees and passersby. This also highlights the Buddhist practice of ‘’Daana ‘’ which means ‘’giving and sharing ‘’.
