JULY 2017

India's Smart Cities initiative is an important component of a range of programs of mutual interest between the United States and India focused on expanding and deepening the U.S.-India strategic partnership. Over last two years, U.S. Government agencies, including the U.S. Trade and Development Agency, the Departments of Commerce and State, and the U.S. Agency for International Development, have mobilized U.S. industry, academic experts and policy makers to advance comprehensive and sustainable smart city infrastructure development plans. U.S. companies are actively partnering with local, state and central authorities to deliver concrete solutions for initiatives that will better the environment for their employees, and for Indian citizens and communities as a whole. In addition to support for Visakhapatnam, Ajmer and Allahabad, the Embassy has offices across India to broaden and deepen our engagement countrywide.
