Diaspora Bonds Deepen

Prime Minister Modi lauds the Indian community in Namibia for preserving culture and strengthening bilateral ties.

Windhoek: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his historic visit to Namibia on July 9, expressed heartfelt pride in the Indian diaspora, praising their commitment to preserving cultural heritage and strengthening India-Namibia relations.

“The Indian community in Namibia is extremely optimistic about closer India-Namibia friendship and this reflected in the special welcome in Windhoek. I am extremely proud of our diaspora, particularly the manner in which they have retained a connect with their culture and traditions,” PM Modi posted on X.

The Prime Minister was greeted with a vibrant traditional welcome at Hosea Kutako International Airport, where local musicians and dancers performed. In a gesture that drew wide applause, PM Modi joined the performers in playing Namibian drums—underscoring his appreciation for the local culture.

This marks PM Modi’s first-ever visit to Namibia, and only the third by an Indian Prime Minister in 27 years. Upon arrival, he shared, “Namibia is a valued and trusted African partner with whom we seek to boost bilateral cooperation.
