Hindi Flourishes, Dialogue Deepens

India’s Ambassador to China Pradeep Kumar Rawat celebrates Hindi teaching expansion in Shanghai and strengthens diplomatic dialogues with Chinese scholars and Indian diaspora.

India’s Ambassador to China, Pradeep Kumar Rawat, alongside Consul General Pratik Mathur, felicitated educator Bhavya Mehta at Britannica International Senior Secondary School in Shanghai. Mehta, daughter of Kirti Chakra recipient Brigadier Ravi Datt Mehta, is pioneering Hindi teaching at the primary level in the school—the first in the region’s international school network to do so.

This initiative builds upon Hindi’s presence at prestigious Chinese universities such as Fudan, SISU, Tsinghua, and Peking University, marking a significant cultural milestone.

Ambassador Rawat and CG Mathur met leading Chinese scholars including Yang Jiemian, President Emeritus, and Prof. Chen Dongxiao at the Shanghai Institutes of International Studies (SIIS). Discussions spanned global governance, multilateral reforms, and India’s role in shaping a fair world order, reinforcing mutual understanding.

At a luncheon hosted by the Indian Association for Shanghai, Rawat engaged with Indian community leaders and executives from global corporations based in Eastern Shanghai. The dialogue emphasised the diaspora’s vital role in fostering India’s global connections and building friendships in the region.

“Vibrant exchanges on community welfare, business, trade, and cultural bonds celebrated the Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam spirit of togetherness,” said the Indian Consulate General in Shanghai.
