Goyal Meets Diaspora
Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal engages with the Indian diaspora and business leaders during his Berlin visit
Berlin: Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said he is “delighted” after interacting with members of the Indian diaspora in Berlin, praising their achievements and role as catalysts for deepening India–Germany ties.
Taking to his official X account, Goyal wrote: “Delighted to interact with the vibrant Indian community in Berlin. We are proud of their achievements across sectors. Called upon them to continue being partners in India’s growth and catalysts for deeper India–Germany ties.”
Strategic Visit
The Minister’s official visit to Berlin, starting October 23, aims at deepening India’s economic engagement with Germany, marking the 25th anniversary of the India-Germany Strategic Partnership.
Industry and Investment Talks
Goyal participated in the third Berlin Global Dialogue (BGD), engaging with business, government, and academia. He met Anne-Laure Parrical de Chammard, Siemens Energy Executive Board member, to discuss reliable, affordable, and sustainable energy systems.
“Pleased to meet Anne-Laure Parrical de Chammard, Member of the Executive Board, @Siemens_Energy. Our discussions focused on deepening collaboration for building more reliable, affordable, and sustainable energy systems. The company’s expertise in reducing emissions aligns with India’s clean energy transition,” Goyal wrote.
He also met the leadership of the Federation of German Industries to discuss industrial collaboration and trade.
Global Partnerships
Goyal met Morten Wierod, CEO of ABB Group, and Airbus Chairman Rene Obermann, reinforcing India’s growth story and technological capabilities. He also engaged with Valdis Dombrovskis, EU Commissioner, and Katherina Reiche, German Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy, discussing progress on the India-EU Free Trade Agreement.
