Yogesh Sood, Business and Diplomatic Editor of India Empire, speaks with Sri Muppa Venkaiah Chowdary, Founder and Chairman of the Muppa Group, one of Hyderabad’s most trusted names in real estate. Sri Chowdary, you have built the Muppa Group over more than two decades. Looking back, what was the inspiration behind entering real estate?

My inspiration was rooted in observing Hyderabad’s potential for planned growth and the housing needs of its people. After decades at LIC, I understood the importance of trust, transparency, and long-term value—principles I wanted to bring to real estate. Starting with Muppa Homes in 1999, the aim was to create communities, not just buildings.

How have your early experiences shaped the Group’s philosophy today?

My time in LIC taught me discipline, financial prudence, and the importance of customer trust. These principles are the foundation of the Muppa Group: integrity, transparency, and delivering exceptional value for our clients. Whether it is land selection, project execution, or post-sale service, the customer remains at the centre of every decision.

The Muppa Group now includes Muppa Projects and Muppa Constructions. How do these companies complement each other?

MPIPL focuses on premium gated communities and residential townships, while MCIPL manages large-scale layouts, apartments, and commercial projects. Together, they allow the Group to cater to a wide spectrum of needs—from luxury villas to thoughtfully designed integrated communities—ensuring excellence and consistency across Hyderabad.

What role do your sons, Ashok Vardhan and Dr. Vishnu Vardhan, play in the Group’s growth?

Ashok brings financial strategy, operational expertise, and market foresight, while Vishnu applies a human-centric vision to design communities that prioritize wellness, safety, and lifestyle. Their complementary leadership ensures the Group evolves with modern urban demands while staying true to our core values.

Hyderabad’s real estate has attracted significant attention from NRIs. What advice would you give to overseas investors considering Muppa projects?

For NRIs, our developments offer both lifestyle and investment value. We focus on sustainable planning, timely delivery, and long-term appreciation. NRIs can invest with confidence, knowing their properties are built on trust, quality, and ethical practices—a philosophy that has guided our projects for over two decades.

The Group has received numerous awards. How do these recognitions reflect your approach?

Awards such as Asia’s Greatest Leaders and recognition from NAREDCO validate our commitment to excellence, innovation, and sustainability. While accolades are gratifying, the real reward is seeing our communities thrive and our customers satisfied.

Looking ahead, what is your vision for the Muppa Group over the next decade?

We aim to expand our footprint while maintaining quality and trust. With new greenfield townships, integrated “walk-to-work” communities, and a focus on wellness and sustainability, we plan to create urban spaces that combine lifestyle, investment, and community. Our goal is to continue building living legacies for generations.
