Bangladesh envoy visits IIT Delhi

Bangladesh High Commissioner to India Muhammad Imran visited the Indian Institute of Technology–Delhi (IIT–Delhi) in late February. During the visit, he had a meeting with Prof. Rangan Banerjee, Director of IIT-Delhi. The meeting was also attended by the Dean of International Programme, other deans and faculty, and research fellows of IIT-Delhi.

During the interactions, Prof. Banerjee emphasized on enhancing the existing academic and research linkages and forge new collaboration between IIT-Delhi and universities in Bangladesh. He also proposed signing of MOU and exchange of visits of faculty members to explore areas of cooperation. The IIT-Delhi expressed their readiness to offer specialized masters and short courses to cater the need of industry and various mega projects of Bangladesh. They expressed particular interests in technical textile, food processing, and infrastructure sector.

The High Commissioner proposed collaboration and exchanges with the state-of-the-art laboratories of IIT-Delhi. He highlighted on the importance of establishing linkages between academic research and industries, and eventually between the economies. He later visited several laboratories of IIT-Delhi. The High Commissioner also interacted with the Bangladeshi students studying at the IIT-Delhi.
