Ace shooter Ram Kumar Sisodia is a national and international level player who feels humbled every time he wins Gold, Silver and Bronze medals. His success mantra is not only to work hard but also to win applause for the team and the country at large. He wants to raise the bar to the level where the nation as well as family feels proud of him. Sisodia’s two daughters have imbibed the winning spirit from their illustrious but unassuming father. They too have won accolades in the various school and college level shooting championships. The secret of success of his sporting career is the strict discipline he has adopted for himself. By dint of hard work coupled with sheer talent he could be able to be a part of the Indian Railway shooting squad.

Born on 5 August 1969, Ram Kumar Sisodia embarked on his journey into professional shooting at the age of 29. Recounting how shooting became an integral part of his self, he said, “During my school days, I had joined NCC where I learnt the basics of shooting and developed an interest in the game. But to pursue the sport, a lot of money was needed to buy the equipment which was a costly affair. Hence, I had to leave the game midway. Later, when I could afford the equipment, I again took up shooting as a sport.”

In 1998, he participated in the open side rifle event of the Delhi State Shooting Championship and won gold. He retained the title for four consecutive years before settling for silver medal in 2003. But his never-say-die spirit brought him back into the limelight with gold the very next year. He not only won the gold but also wrote the Delhi state record by scoring 335/400. In 2004, he changed his event from rifle to pistol. In 10 mts pistol shooting, he won silver at the state level and qualified for the Nationals held in Indore. Following it, he participated in the Kumar Surinder Singh Memorial All India Championship.
