Indo-Trinidadian Ties

Indo-Trinidadian ties trace their origins to 1845, when the first ship, Fatel Razack, brought Indian indentured labourers to Trinidad to work on sugarcane plantations under British colonial rule. Over the next 70 years, more than 140,000 Indians arrived, bringing with them diverse cultural, linguistic, and religious traditions. Despite initial hardships, these migrants and their descendants laid strong foundations in agriculture, commerce, and community life.
