Export Boom

New Delhi: India’s automobile exports reached an all-time high of 53.6 lakh units in FY25, a 19% increase over the previous fiscal year, reflecting India’s growing stature as a global auto manufacturing hub, according to SIAM.

Passenger vehicle exports rose 15% to 7.7 lakh units. Maruti Suzuki led the car and SUV segment, while Bajaj Auto, TVS, and Honda topped two-wheeler exports. Maruti began exporting its Jimny SUV to Japan, with 38,000 units shipped in the first nine months of FY25 alone.

Hyundai Motor India exported 1.58 lakh vehicles, with key markets including Saudi Arabia, South Africa, and Latin America. The company’s Verna and i10 series continue to perform well globally.

Two-wheeler exports surged 21% to 41.9 lakh units, supported by new models and expanding markets in Africa and Latin America. Three-wheeler exports grew by 2% to 3.1 lakh units, while commercial vehicle exports rose 23% to 80,986 units.

“Export recovery across all segments highlights improved global demand and India’s growing competitiveness,” said SIAM President Shailesh Chandra.
