India and Saudi Arabia pledge stronger anti-terror ties in high-level parliamentary and civil society engagements

Riyadh: The Indian all-party delegation, led by BJP MP Baijayant Jay Panda, discussed India’s anti-terror approach and Operation Sindoor at Saudi Arabia’s Gulf Research Centre. The team was hosted by Chairman Abdulaziz Sager and held open talks on India-Saudi ties, especially in defense and security cooperation.

“India and Saudi Arabia are bolstering defense and security partnerships, united against terrorism. Our delegation shared India’s ‘new normal’ post-Operation Sindoor and explored ways to deepen cooperation,” Panda posted on X.

The team later visited Naif Arab University for Security Sciences in Riyadh and discussed cross-border terrorism with President Abdulmajeed Albanyan. “Our team discussed India’s zero-tolerance to terrorism and examined ways to collaborate on security education and de-radicalization,” Panda shared.

They also met Saudi civil society members, including policymakers, researchers, media, and business leaders, discussing India’s position and the wider India-Saudi strategic relationship. The delegation, which includes MPs from BJP, AIMIM, and independents like Ghulam Nabi Azad, met with Saudi Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Adel Al-Jubeir, echoing Prime Minister Modi’s stance that this “is not an era for terrorism.”

They emphasized dismantling terror networks, denying financial or political support to such entities, and highlighted India’s evolving counter-terror strategy. The delegation thanked the Saudi Shura Council for its condemnation of the Pahalgam attack and was hosted by its Deputy Speaker and Parliamentary Friendship Committee.

At Prince Saud Al-Faisal Institute for Diplomatic Studies, the MPs reinforced that India values Saudi support in the fight against terror. Finally, the Indian Embassy organized a dinner attended by civil society leaders, allowing further discussion on terrorism and strengthening bilateral ties.
