iPhone Exports Surge
Apple scales up Indian manufacturing base.
New Delhi: Apple’s iPhone exports from India soared nearly 63 per cent to $7.5 billion in April–July 2025, compared to $4.6 billion in the same period last year, fresh industry data showed. Overall smartphone exports touched a record $10 billion in the first four months of FY26, up 52 per cent from $6.4 billion in FY25.
In Q1 FY26, India’s smartphone exports hit $7.72 billion, 58 per cent higher than the $4.9 billion in Q1 FY25. Apple alone shipped $6 billion worth of iPhones via its contract manufacturers — an 82 per cent jump.
Foxconn, Apple’s key supplier, has begun producing iPhone 17 models at its new Bengaluru plant, set up with an investment of ?25,000 crore. The facility is Foxconn’s second-largest iPhone unit outside China.
Apple aims to raise production to 60 million iPhones this year, up from 35–40 million in 2024–25. In FY25, it made 60 per cent more iPhones in India, worth $22 billion.
CEO Tim Cook recently stressed India’s growing role in Apple’s supply chain, revealing that most iPhones sold in the US in June 2025 were made in India.
The broader electronics sector is also booming. Production rose from $31 billion to $133 billion in a decade, while exports surged 47 per cent in Q1 FY26 compared to Q1 FY25.
