Air India Stalls

Amid turbulence and trials, India’s flag carrier trims its wings, even as it retrofits for tomorrow.

New Delhi: Air India said in August that it will suspend Delhi–Washington flights from September 1, 2025, due to fleet shortfalls and Pakistan’s airspace closure.

The suspension follows the retrofitting of 26 Boeing 787-8s, leaving multiple aircraft grounded until 2026.

Travellers will be offered alternatives, with one-stop flights via New York, Newark, Chicago, and San Francisco. The airline continues to fly non-stop to six other North American destinations.

Recent technical snags in Delhi–Raipur and Thiruvananthapuram–Delhi flights, including an emergency landing at Chennai, have added to scrutiny.
