Envoys Mourn Tragic Blast
World diplomats have united in grief after a devastating car explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort Metro Station claimed eight lives.
NEW DELHI: Diplomatic missions and foreign envoys to India expressed deep sorrow and solidarity following the deadly car blast near Red Fort Metro Station, which left at least eight dead and several injured on Monday.
The Embassy of Egypt posted on X, “On behalf of the People and Government of the Arab Republic of Egypt, we extend our sincere condolences to the families and loved ones of those affected by the Red Fort blast. Our thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved, and we wish all injured a swift and complete recovery.”
Global Voices of Support
France’s Ambassador Thierry Mathou wrote, “On behalf of the French People and Government, I extend our deepest condolences to those who lost loved ones in the Red Fort blast. Our thoughts are with the families of the victims, and we wish a full and complete recovery to all those injured.”
From Japan, Ambassador ONO Keiichi expressed, “Deeply saddened by the tragic loss of lives in the Delhi blast. I offer my deepest condolences to the bereaved families and pray for the speedy recovery of the injured.”
British High Commissioner Lindy Cameron said, “My thoughts are with all those affected by the explosion near the Red Fort in New Delhi today. If you are in the immediate area, please follow the advice of local authorities.”
Lithuania’s Ambassador Diana Mickeviciene also posted, “Horrible news about blasts at Red Fort, Delhi! Our deepest condolences and prayers to the dear ones of the victims, praying for the speedy recovery of those injured.”
Blast Near Red Fort
The explosion took place when a Haryana-registered car parked near Gate No. 1 of Red Fort Metro Station suddenly detonated, igniting nearby vehicles and damaging streetlights. The injured were rushed to LNJP Hospital, where their condition remains under close observation.
Teams from the Delhi Police, NIA, NSG, and forensic units swiftly arrived at the scene. The entire area has been sealed off, and CCTV footage is being analysed to establish the cause and track suspects.
Heightened Security Measures
Authorities have issued high alerts in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Mumbai, increasing security at public places, transport hubs, and religious sites. Officials have urged citizens to remain vigilant and cooperate with law enforcement as investigations continue.
