PHDCCI CEO and Secretary General Ranjeet Mehta hailed President Murmu’s offer to supply Vande Bharat high-speed trains to Angola as a strategic step in India’s growing engagement with the Global South.

“This is the first visit by an Indian Head of State to Angola, coinciding with its 50th year of independence and 40 years of diplomatic ties with India. The Vande Bharat proposal represents a significant milestone for the Make in India initiative,” Mehta said.

He highlighted Angola’s potential as a crucial partner for oil, gas, and deep-sea exploration, adding that both nations’ young populations and natural resources provide a strong foundation for cooperation in energy, skill development, and capacity building.

During bilateral talks, Presidents Murmu and Lourenço reaffirmed their intent to deepen ties in infrastructure, defence, health, agriculture, and digital technologies, while MoUs on fisheries, aquaculture, and consular matters were signed.
