India’s newly appointed Ambassador to Ukraine, Mr Anjani Kumar, presented a copy of his credentials to Ukrainian Deputy Foreign Minister Mr Olexandr Mischenko at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kyiv on August 10. Both sides discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations.

The discussions focused on deepening bilateral cooperation and maintaining regular political dialogue at all levels. They also covered the agenda for upcoming high-level meetings, including implementation of agreements reached during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Ukraine on August 23, 2024.

Particular emphasis was placed on enhancing inter-parliamentary cooperation and strengthening engagement in the humanitarian sphere. The two sides also discussed measures to accelerate bilateral economic cooperation and revitalise contacts between the business communities of India and Ukraine.

Both sides agreed to remain actively engaged and further strengthen bilateral ties in areas of mutual interest. Mr Mischenko wished Mr Kumar success in his diplomatic mission and significant achievements for the benefit of both countries and their peoples.

On August 7, Mr Kumar called on President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan, where he received her guidance and the Letter of Credence for his assignment. Before his appointment as Ambassador to Ukraine, Mr Kumar served as a Joint Secretary at the Ministry of External Affairs.
