New Delhi: India and Denmark agreed to strengthen bilateral cooperation in micro, small and medium enterprise (MSME) development, innovation and intellectual property during the fourth meeting of their Joint Working Group (JWG) in Copenhagen on September 1.

The meeting provided an opportunity to exchange perspectives on the two countries’ MSME and innovation ecosystems and explore greater institutional cooperation. Discussions covered technology adoption, innovation, intellectual property, technology commercialisation, entrepreneurship and cluster-based MSME development.

The two sides also reviewed outcomes of previous engagements and identified priorities for future collaboration under the JWG framework. The Indian delegation visited Aarhus University Innovation “Kitchen” and Agro Food Park to study Denmark’s innovation-support and business-cluster ecosystems, including approaches to mentoring, start-up support, industry–academia linkages and entrepreneurship.

The delegation also met Denmark’s Ministry of Industry, Business and Financial Affairs to exchange views on business development, innovation and the SME ecosystem. Participation in the Nordic–India Startup Summit 2026 by TechBBQ provided further opportunities to engage with Nordic start-up and innovation stakeholders.

H.E. Manish Prabhat, India’s Ambassador to Denmark, welcomed the successful functioning of the JWG and the deepening bilateral cooperation, reaffirming support for continued engagement and new areas of collaboration.

The meeting underscored a shared commitment to innovation and IP-led MSME growth, knowledge exchange and stronger institutional linkages.
