Global Influence
Argentina’s envoy says India, under PM Modi, has emerged as a responsible global voice and key economic partner.
New Delhi: Argentina’s Ambassador to India, Mariano Agustín Caucino in September congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his 75th birthday, wishing him “good health and continued success” while emphasising that the South American nation greatly values its partnership with New Delhi.
Ambassador Caucino stated that India has become Argentina’s sixth-largest trading partner and both countries are working to expand this relationship further. Asked about new travel measures, he noted: “Any Indian holding a valid US visa can now visit Argentina without applying for a separate visa. This will encourage greater people-to-people contact and tourism.”
On trade and strategy, he said: “We are very happy that Argentina and India are celebrating 75 years of friendship. With stronger aviation links and the establishment of a strategic partnership, bilateral trade has already grown to nearly $5 billion. India is Argentina’s sixth-largest trading partner, and we plan to expand this further, especially following Prime Minister Modi’s July visit to Argentina.”
Asked whether India under PM Modi has become a global power, he responded: “Yes. With the world’s largest population and one of the top five economies, India has asserted itself as a responsible international voice. Its influence continues to rise.”
On India’s economic future, he remarked: “India’s development has been remarkable. Already the fourth-largest economy, it is on track to be the third within a few years. Argentina and India, though geographically distant, have complementary economies with great potential to deepen ties.”
