NEW DELHI: H.E. Ms Jacqueline Mukangira, High Commissioner of the Republic of Rwanda to India, represented Rwanda at the 4th Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference for Central Gujarat, held in Vadodara from June 29 to 30, 2026. Rwanda participated as a Country Partner alongside Singapore, the United Arab Emirates, Japan and Ukraine.

Addressing the inaugural session, the High Commissioner thanked the Government of Gujarat for inviting Rwanda as a Country Partner. She also congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi on becoming India’s longest-serving elected Prime Minister, acknowledging his leadership in enhancing India’s global stature and strengthening bilateral ties with Rwanda.

Highlighting the growing strategic partnership between the two countries, Ms Mukangira described Rwanda as a stable, rapidly developing and investor-friendly destination, offering strong economic growth, low levels of corruption, a conducive business environment and strategic access to African markets.

She invited Indian businesses to explore investment opportunities in sectors such as manufacturing, infrastructure, information and communication technology, agriculture, energy, tourism, healthcare and mining, supported by attractive investment incentives. The High Commissioner also encouraged delegates to visit Rwanda, highlighting its natural beauty, unique tourism experiences, warm hospitality and favourable visa arrangements.

On the sidelines of the conference, Ms Mukangira participated in thematic sessions on emerging trends in agriculture and food systems, including artificial intelligence in agriculture, natural farming and future food processing. Three delegates from Rwanda also attended the conference.

The High Commissioner held discussions with several Indian business representatives, many of whom expressed interest in investment opportunities in Rwanda. She also interacted with representatives of various media organisations.

India is currently Rwanda’s second-largest foreign investor and second-largest trading partner. A significant share of Indian investments in Rwanda originates from Gujarat, underlining the expanding economic partnership between the state and the East African nation.

The Central Gujarat Conference was the fourth regional conference under the Vibrant Gujarat initiative, following similar events in Mehsana, Rajkot and Surat. Rwanda has participated as a Country Partner in all four regional conferences. President Paul Kagame attended the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit in January 2017 at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while the next Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit is scheduled for January 2027.
