Dr Harsh Vardhan, Union Minister for Health & Family Welfare

BACKGROUND

Dr Harsh Vardhan was an important member of the BJP when the party swept to power in the Delhi Assembly elections in 1993, the time from which this journalist has been interacting with him. He was immediately made the Delhi Government’s Health and Law Minister and by 1996 he was the state’s Minister for Education. His political career had begun to bloom much like the lotus, the party’s symbol.
