India Engages Indonesia

Indian MPs engage Indonesian political leaders and ambassadors from 20 nations in anti-terror discussions

Jakarta: The All-Party Parliamentary Delegation led by JD(U) MP Sanjay Kumar Jha on May 29 held productive discussions with top think tanks, resident ambassadors, and PAN party leaders in Indonesia. The talks marked part of India’s extended diplomatic efforts to rally global support against Pakistan-sponsored cross-border terrorism.

The delegation met ambassadors from 20 nations, presenting insights into Operation Sindoor and highlighting Pakistan’s role in the April 22 Pahalgam attack. India’s measured, non-escalatory, and precise response was emphasized.

They stressed that peace talks and terrorism can’t coexist and called for global action to punish the perpetrators, citing the UNSC’s April 25 statement demanding unified diplomatic efforts. The team also met leaders of Indonesia’s PAN party, including Vice Chairman Eddy Soeparno and Deputy Minister Viva Yoga Mauladi, exchanging views on India’s anti-terror position.

“Proud to lead our Parliamentary team in a meaningful dialogue with Indonesia’s PAN leadership, including Eddy Soeparno and Viva Yoga Mauladi. Both sides stood firm against terrorism and reaffirmed commitment to peace and democratic values,” Jha wrote on X.

Earlier, the MPs spoke with scholars from key Indonesian think tanks, including ICWA, CSIS, FPCI, The Habibie Center, and more. “The team delivered a strong national message on zero tolerance for cross-border terror. There was support for India’s viewpoint and recognition of the need to challenge false narratives,” said the Indian Embassy in Jakarta.

When asked about long-term objectives, the delegation firmly stated that Pakistan must end terror, dismantle infrastructure, and vacate Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

Delegates included MPs from BJP, TMC, CPI(M), Congress, and a former ambassador, reflecting a wide political representation. After successful stops in Singapore, South Korea, and Japan, the MPs continued highlighting Operation Sindoor and India’s anti-terror policies to Indonesian counterparts.
