How has India’s development assistance, particularly in capacity building, education, and healthcare, impacted Fiji’s progress?
It has had a very positive impact.

Fiji is on the frontlines of climate change. How can India, with its growing leadership in renewable energy and sustainability, be a stronger partner in Fiji’s climate resilience journey?
We are already collaborating with India in several areas of adaptation and mitigation. This includes participating in initiatives led by India, such as the International Solar Alliance.

In the context of the Pacific Islands’ increasing global importance, how do you view India’s role as a development and strategic partner for the region?
India is a global leader in many areas, with significant strategic influence. It is already a trusted development partner for the Pacific, and its contribution will only increase. Prime Minister Modi’s global leadership has been strongly recognised by Pacific leaders.

Beyond politics and economics, how important is cultural diplomacy—festivals, people-to-people exchanges, scholarships—in strengthening India–Fiji relations?
Cultural diplomacy is strategic, historical, and rooted in our shared past. For decades, India has provided opportunities for Fijians to study, attend festivals, and participate in exchanges. This has cemented cultural ties and will continue to strengthen our relationship.
