Ambassador Advances Ties
India’s Ambassador to Uzbekistan Smita Pant fosters cooperation in education, technology, and strategic partnerships through multiple engagements.
India’s Ambassador to Uzbekistan, Smita Pant, visited Bukhara State University to discuss prospects for scientific and educational cooperation with the university’s Rector, Obidjon Khamidov. Pant also delivered the keynote address at a seminar on ‘Intelligent Learning Platforms and Automated Systems,’ highlighting India’s commitment to advancing technology-driven education.
On the International Day of Girl Child, Pant participated in an event at Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies, where she promoted India’s initiatives such as the ‘Save the Girl Child, Educate the Girl Child’ campaign and other government schemes aimed at empowering girls through education.
Earlier, on October 9, Ambassador Pant presented cutting-edge software tools developed by the Indian Army Training Team to the University of Military Security and Defence. This contribution aligns with the India-Uzbekistan strategic partnership and commitment to strengthening capabilities in IT, Artificial Intelligence, and cybersecurity.
India was among the first nations to recognise Uzbekistan’s sovereignty after its independence. Diplomatic relations were formalised with a protocol signed in Tashkent in 1992. The two countries declared a Strategic Partnership in 2011, which facilitates regular political and official dialogues to sustain cooperation.
