Bilateral Partnership Expands
Secretary (West) Sibi George highlighted the growing India-Finland partnership during Finland’s National Day reception in New Delhi.
High-Level Diplomatic Engagement
George attended Finland’s National Day as Chief Guest, underscoring multifaceted cooperation across trade, investment, digitalisation, sustainability, culture, and mobility. The reception reflected high-level engagements that continue to strengthen bilateral and multilateral collaboration, with India viewed as a trusted Nordic partner.
MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal noted that discussions highlighted ongoing collaboration within the EU context, as both nations explored shared strategic and economic priorities.
Advancing Technology and Investment
On November 6, India and Finland held the 13th Foreign Office Consultations in Helsinki. Co-chaired by Secretary George and Permanent State Secretary Jukka Salovaara, the sessions covered trade, investment, digitalisation, quantum computing, 5G/6G, AI, sustainability, clean technologies, circular economy, education, research, people-to-people ties, and mobility. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to deepen bilateral cooperation in these sectors.
Dialogue on Global Issues
The two countries also exchanged views on regional and global developments. EAM S. Jaishankar’s telephonic conversation with Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen addressed the Ukraine conflict and its ramifications, while PM Narendra Modi spoke with Finnish President Alexander Stubb to discuss trade, technology, sustainability, and peaceful conflict resolution.
Strengthening Nordic Partnership
India and Finland continue to leverage high-level engagements and technology-driven cooperation to expand sustainable growth and shared prosperity. With a strong focus on people-to-people ties, regional collaboration, and multilateral alignment, both nations are positioning their partnership for a resilient, forward-looking future.
