The opening of the High Commission of Saint Kitts and Nevis in New Delhi on April 7, 2026, marks a historic milestone. What message does this diplomatic presence send about your country’s commitment to India and the broader Indo-Caribbean partnership?

It says unambiguously that the Federation of Saint Kitts and Nevis values this relationship. As High Commissioner for St. Kitts and Nevis, I can only speak definitively to the Indo-Saint Kitts and Nevis partnership, although I am quite confident that the relationship which India and the Caribbean enjoys is one rooted in genuine partnership, mutual respect and friendship. My Government’s decision to establish a diplomatic presence in Delhi is predicated on its desire to deepen our bilateral relationship, strengthen the bilateral partnership, work more closely on issues of common interests, as well as in international forums, explore and develop opportunities for Indian investment in Saint Kitts and Nevis, and importantly, to build awareness in India for Saint Kitts and Nevis as a tourism destination and an opportunity for safe investments.

External Affairs Minister Dr S. Jaishankar inaugurated the mission, underscoring the importance both countries attach to this relationship. How would you describe the current state of bilateral ties, and where do you see the greatest potential for growth?

My Foreign Minister and Saint Kitts and Nevis were very grateful to External Affairs Minister

Dr S. Jaishankar for his role in the opening of the New High Commission. I believe that the relationship between our two countries remains robust, and we are confident that going forward, this relationship will be integral to Saint Kitts and Nevis’s determination to transform itself, in the next decade, into a fully sustainable island state, focused on several strategic priorities such as energy transition, food and nutrition security; sustainable settlements; health and social protection; circular economy; sustainable industry; and water security. India can play an outsize role in this transformation by providing technical assistance, expertise, investment and other relevant support.

As the first resident High Commissioner of Saint Kitts and Nevis to India, what are the key priorities you have set for the mission during its inaugural year?

I intend to focus greater attention on brand recognition. Not many people in India have ever heard of Saint Kitts and Nevis. At the same time, there are several who have. I want to help spread the word that Saint Kitts and Nevis is open for business. It is a luxury and lifestyle destination. I hope to succeed in making people aware of the investment opportunities that still exist for India and Indians in Saint Kitts and Nevis. I also want to remind the Indian government that St. Kitts and Nevis is a reliable and strategic partner.

Saint Kitts and Nevis has often been recognised for its strengths in tourism, financial services and sustainable development. Which sectors do you believe offer the most promising opportunities for collaboration with India?

I think that these three sectors offer great opportunities. However, Saint Kitts and Nevis has become one of the must-see destinations for tourism, including cruise tourism. With its rich history, heritage tourism is an important part of its brand. Recently, it was announced that Saint Kitts and Nevis will become the homeport for an international cruise ship brand. This opens opportunities for expansion in the cruise sector, airport, shopping and hotel.
