After a gap of five years which is an eternity in the volatile aviation industry, Biman Bangladesh commenced operations in the Dhaka-New Delhi sector in May 2019. Coming at a time when Jet Airways has shut down direct flight operations in the sector, Biman’s decision will be a welcome relief for those planning to fly non-stop between the two national capitals. The other flights operating in this sector have at least one stopover. India Empire Magazine caught up with Mr Shakil Meraj, General Manager, Public Relations at Biman Bangladesh Airlines, during his recent visit to Delhi

On re-launching the Dhaka-Delhi sector…

Biman has been operating on the Delhi-Dhaka route since the 1980s. In 2014 we had to shut down operations, not because the airlines was not earning enough revenues but because of a shortage of aircraft at the time. For a long while now we’ve been planning to re-launch operations, and finally now the moment has arrived with the inaugural flight from Dhaka to Delhi on May 13, 2019.
