Also, after elevating Indo-Afghan relationships to the level of a strategic partnership, things have looked brighter. Since 2003, India has contributed about USD 3 billion by way of aid and has designed and executed nearly 500 projects in Afghanistan. To cement ties further, India has thus far given 60,000 scholarships to Afghan students to study in academic institutions across the country. At present, some 16,000 Afghani students are pursuing different courses in India.
