Ties Through People
India’s outreach in Egypt reaffirmed the central role of diaspora engagement in strengthening bilateral and cultural bonds.
Cairo: In January, Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh attended Bharat Milan, a vibrant community cultural festival in Obour City, where he engaged with members of the Indian diaspora drawn from across Egypt.
Addressing the gathering, Singh underscored the significance of the diaspora, lauding its contributions to Viksit Bharat and its role in strengthening India-Egypt relations while deepening cultural and people-to-people connections.
“Pleased to attend the Bharat Milan… complimented them on being a vital pillar for India-Egypt ties,” Singh noted in a post on X.
Shared Values and Sustainability
On January 16, Singh planted a Neem sapling at Al Horreya Park in Cairo under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” initiative, symbolising shared commitments to sustainability, environmental stewardship, and a greener future.
He also paid floral tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at the park, reaffirming the enduring moral and historical bond between India and Egypt.
Strategic Engagements
Earlier, Singh met Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty, holding wide-ranging discussions aimed at advancing the India-Egypt Strategic Partnership.
“Discussions covered the forthcoming India-Arab Foreign Ministerial Meeting, along with cooperation in pharmaceuticals, healthcare, trade, investments, technology, and tourism,” Singh posted.
Additional meetings with Minister Manal Awad focused on sustainable development, climate financing, renewable energy, green transition, rural development, waste management, agriculture, and irrigation.
Singh also met Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit, with both sides welcoming the upcoming 2nd India-Arab Foreign Ministerial Meet in New Delhi.
