Paris Looks Ahead

Running through the visit was a recurring preoccupation with the future. The partnership increasingly reflects a shared belief that technology, research and entrepreneurship will play a central role in shaping economic growth and international competitiveness in the decades to come.

That conversation found its most visible expression at VivaTech 2026, Europe’s premier technology and startup gathering. For several days, Paris became a meeting point for entrepreneurs, investors, researchers, policymakers and innovators seeking to understand the forces reshaping the global economy. Exhibition halls buzzed with demonstrations of emerging technologies, startup founders pitched ideas to investors, and discussions spilled out from conference stages into cafés and corridors.

India arrived not merely as a participant in that conversation but as one of its most significant contributors, reflecting the country’s growing influence in global discussions on innovation, digital infrastructure and emerging technologies.

The conversations at VivaTech also revealed a growing convergence between Indian and French priorities. Both countries see innovation as a driver of economic growth, both are investing heavily in emerging technologies, and both recognise that the next phase of global competition will be shaped as much by ideas as by industrial capacity. In that sense, the technology partnership between India and France is no longer an adjunct to the broader relationship. It is becoming one of its defining features.
