Editor-in-Chief’s Letter
Every edition of India Empire seeks to capture India’s expanding engagement with the world. This month, that engagement finds its strongest expression in our Cover Story on LAC FIRST, the India-Latin America & Caribbean Business & Diplomatic Conference, recently organised in New Delhi.
The conference reaffirmed a simple yet compelling truth. While geography may separate India from Latin America and the Caribbean, opportunity does not. Trade, investment, technology, energy, food security and innovation are steadily bringing our regions closer together. The enthusiastic participation of ambassadors, diplomats, policymakers and business leaders demonstrated that the momentum for stronger India-LAC engagement is no longer aspirational. It is becoming a reality.
For India Empire, LAC FIRST represents far more than an event. It reflects our continuing commitment to creating meaningful platforms that bring together diplomacy, government and business. Political goodwill may open doors, but sustained economic engagement, cultural understanding and people-to-people partnerships ensure that those doors remain open.
The true measure of the conference, however, lay not on the dais, but in the auditorium. It was filled with entrepreneurs, exporters, manufacturers and business leaders who had come with a genuine desire to explore Latin America and the Caribbean. By the close of the conference, one could sense a distinct shift in outlook. For many in the audience, the region had ceased to be a distant geography. It had become a destination for business, investment and long-term partnerships. The conference had concluded, but for many delegates, their journey into Latin America had just begun.
This edition also features two exclusive diplomatic interviews that further reinforce our commitment to informed international dialogue. We are delighted to present our conversations with H.E. Alberto A. Guani, Ambassador of Uruguay to India, and H.E. Juan Carlos Marsán Aguilera, Ambassador of Cuba to India. Both ambassadors share valuable insights into bilateral relations, trade, investment, tourism and the expanding opportunities for cooperation with India. Readers can also watch both interviews in full on India Empire TV, extending these conversations beyond the printed page.
Beyond the Cover Story and our diplomatic interviews, this edition brings together a diverse range of stories reflecting India’s expanding global footprint. From trade facilitation and investment opportunities to international business collaborations, technology, infrastructure and the growing role of the Indian diaspora, the underlying narrative remains one of partnership, enterprise and progress.
One theme runs consistently through these pages: trust. Trust between governments. Trust between businesses. Trust between institutions. Trust between people. In an era shaped by geopolitical uncertainty and rapid technological transformation, trust has become one of the world’s most valuable strategic assets. It is the foundation upon which enduring partnerships are built, whether between nations negotiating new economic corridors or businesses exploring emerging markets.
India today occupies an increasingly important place in these conversations. Its economic resilience, entrepreneurial spirit, democratic institutions and expanding global engagement have positioned it as a trusted partner across continents. As these relationships deepen, diplomacy and commerce continue to reinforce one another, creating new opportunities for shared growth and mutual prosperity.
At India Empire, we remain committed to chronicling these developments with perspective, balance and purpose. For more than two decades, our endeavour has been not merely to report events, but to connect ideas, encourage dialogue and showcase opportunities that strengthen India’s engagement with the wider world. We believe that journalism can do more than inform. It can bring people together, foster understanding and inspire partnerships that endure.
As readers turn the pages of this edition, we hope they discover more than stories. We hope they discover connections. Between nations. Between businesses. Between cultures. Between people.
For ultimately, those connections define diplomacy.
They also define the mission of India Empire.
