Jaishankar Deepens Engagement
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar’s Moscow visit in November blended strategic diplomacy, community outreach, and a major expansion of India’s consular footprint across Russia.

High-Level Diplomatic Consultations
Jaishankar’s visit included a wide range of official meetings, reaffirming the strategic depth and long-standing trust that characterise India–Russia relations. He met Russia’s First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov to review progress since the 26th IRIGC-TEC meeting in August 2025. The two leaders discussed preparations for the upcoming India–Russia Annual Summit to be held in New Delhi next month.
The summit is expected to be particularly significant, as it comes during the 25th anniversary year of the Declaration on Strategic Partnership—a framework that shaped modern India–Russia ties in defence, nuclear energy, space cooperation, hydrocarbons, and technology.
Russian President Vladimir Putin is expected to visit India in December for the 23rd Annual Summit, his first visit since 2021. Both sides see the meeting as an opportunity to consolidate achievements, take stock of ongoing projects, and chart new areas of cooperation suited to a rapidly changing global order.

A Shared Global Outlook
During his Moscow engagements, Jaishankar also met President Putin and conveyed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s greetings. The discussions covered preparations for the forthcoming summit as well as regional and global developments. Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Jaishankar also reviewed multilateral coordination, reaffirming their commitment to a just, multipolar world order and enhanced cooperation within the UN, SCO, BRICS, and G20.
Both sides noted that India and Russia share a long tradition of strategic clarity, trust-based cooperation, and mutual respect—factors that continue to shape their partnership even amid global geopolitical flux.
