“Age-old spiritual, historical and cultural bonds bind us”

Thank you. Prior to all I would like to extend ...

Apart from sutras, the beautiful statue of Lord Buddha at the Gandan monastery has further cemented our spiritual ties. Once again, it demonstrates India’s commitment to promote and strengthen its ancient linkages with Mongolia. Your observation please…

Honourable Narendra Modi ji, Prime Minister of India during his state visit of Mongolia in May, 2015 presented sampling of Banyan tree and pledged to gift Lord Buddha and his two disciples’ statue to the Gandantegchiling monastery, which was highly appreciated by the Mongolian Buddhists as vivid indication of common legacies.

Shri Ram Sutar and Shri Anil Sutar, the renowned sculptor father and son duo painstakingly molded up the wonderful statue, which was inaugurated during the visit paid by H.E. Mr. Kh. Battulga, President of Mongolia to India in September, 2019 virtually.

Both the Mongolian Kanjur and Lord Buddha and his two disciples’ statues are of enormous spiritual importance and appeal to the youths to study the history of our bilateral ties and re-emphasize the compassion and benevolence that the Buddha taught us. I think they would become a big spiritual investment to the Buddhist believers in all the countries.
