We have covered quite a distance by providing education and healthcare to the people, and making significant contributions to rural lives, for the last three decades. Everything was possible only with Swami Rama’s continued blessings.

You have described the SRHU as yet another extraordinary achievement of the Himalayan Institute Hospital Trust. Could you please tell us a little bit about the trust?

Founded by Gurudev Swami Ram in 1989, though the name is Himalayan Institute Hospital Trust (HIHT), it is a Society registered under Society Registration Act 1860.

1970, to make his dream a reality and to fulfill the mission of his Gurudev HH Bengali Baba, Swami Rama journeyed to the West. Swamiji was the first yogi who subjected himself to testing under laboratory conditions by the scientific community.

time when medical scientists opined involuntary systems of our bodily functions are not under our conscious control, Swamiji proved that the involuntary systems of body functions can be controlled by the regulation of breath at Menninger foundation in Topeka, Kansas, USA. This opened a totally new arena for medical scientists, challenging their previous beliefs. The experiments performed on Gurudev were published in many scientific journals of that time. His Yogic feats were also highlighted in Encyclopedia Britannica 1973.
