Where Hearts Heal
From pioneering India’s early cardiology breakthroughs to championing affordable heart care, Dr M. Khalilullah’s life’s work reflects a rare union of medical excellence and moral purpose.

Recognition has followed her work, including the “Most Promising Doctor in Cardiology” award from the Fortis group, the Mother Teresa Award for Exemplary Services in Healthcare, and recent honours from the Indian Medical Association and the Government of Delhi. Her active involvement in academic research and professional bodies further reinforces the Centre’s commitment to evidence-based practice.
Dr Khalilullah remains personally involved in the Centre’s clinical and ethical direction. His continued presence reinforces a culture where clinical judgement outweighs procedural enthusiasm, and where the first question asked is not what can be done, but what should be done. Unnecessary interventions are consciously avoided, and dignity, trust, and long-term well-being are prioritised over throughput.
Affordability at The Heart Centre is not charity-driven but system-driven. By limiting overheads, avoiding unnecessary investigations, and focusing on necessity rather than volume, the institution demonstrates that sustainable heart care can coexist with social responsibility. For younger cardiologists, it also serves as a mentoring space, exposing them to a value system rooted in responsibility and service.
